Wind turbines exposures in the atmosphere for long time as towering objects in wild area, and will be vulnerable to lightning strikes. Lightning will cause serious damage to blades, transmission devices, power generation equipment and control systems of wind turbines once lightning strikes occur. Surge protective devices must be installed for wind turbines to avoid the shutdown accidents and greater economic losses.
